Sweet Mia is home again

I was sick for the last 2 weeks. And still is, actually..... tak fully recover lagi. However, what made it bearable was Mia's presence in the house. Yes! Mia was back for several days.

Mia's visit to her Sekolah Menengah School

Anastassia entered a colouring competition which was held in the school which most of Mia's ex-primary school friends goes to. (Mia would go to this school if tak dapat offer SBP) On the same day, the school also held its Canteen Day.

Since I planned to wait for Anastassia, I asked Mia to come along. After getting several SMSes from her friends, asking her to come to the school, Mia decided to tag along.

As she entered the school gate, Mia said "I feel funny.... what if Mia tak jumpa orang yang Mia kenal?"

The minute she finished that sentence, suddenly we heard someone shrieking and a group of girls rushed to her, hugging her... hehe.... she spoke too soon. I left her as I saw more girls rushing and running towards her. I dont want to be caught in a stampede. Haha.

After an hour, the results were announced. (Anastassia coloured beautifully) And it was time to head back home. I saw Mia under a tent with her friends and signalled to her that its time to go home. She came over to me, begging to let her stay for another hour. During the conversation, another Indian friend saw her and hugged her from behind, both of them jumping up and down, and they started to chatter nonstop, oblivious to my stares.

As I was starting to get another of my headaches, I just told Mia that we NEED to get back home. It took us another half an hour before I finally succeeded in dragging her out of the school.

My Mia had a great schooling experience in her primary years. She made several good friends there, and I hope they will be life long friends.

SBP Competition peringkat Kebangsaan

There was a competition held at Mia's college for SBP schools peringkat Kebangsaan. Mia wanted to go and see for experience sake, Helena pulak as usual memang menyibuk dalam bab2 begini. I brought Anastassia along, nak kasi semangat kat dia suruh belajar kuat2.

The tops SBPs were there, the competition was great. But the atmosphere was what made me go down MY memory lane. Yes, Helena terkenang zaman MRSM dulu, how I wish I could go back and relive the sweet memories again.

I was sitting right in front of the Alam Shah boys. Their semangat college, their semangat keluargaan and their naughtiness and cheekiness reminded me of the good old times. Whatmore when I see Mia's collegemates membalas dgn semangat college mereka, I was reminded further of the sweetness of college life. (MCKK, and other colleges tak ramai participants, so they were very2 well behaved)

Sighh.... I am really envious of Mia, how I wish I could be in her shoes.

The next morning, (we came back after 1am) I woke Zaryff up, and I said to him. "You know Zaryff.... if Zaryff tak masuk MCKK pun tak apa..... Sekolah Alam Shah pun cool jugak......"

My dad overheard and jeling ... hehe (my dad was in MCKK since he was 9 years old until Form 6)

Zaryff just said "Zaryff suka sekolah kakak Mia" And everyone laughed. Menggatal ke anak bujang I ni..... suka all girls school?

But sebenarnya, bukan senang nak masuk SBP and MRSM. 5As bukan tiketnya, active dalam koko pun bukan tiketnya. Because there are thousands with 5As and impressive koko achievements. So how do I ensure that all my kids dapat masuk SBP? I dont know. I really dont know.

Helena, reading this brought me down memory lane as well. I loved my primary school days (entah kenapa I am always reminded of the look and taste of Fanta Grape or Strawberry when I think of primary school)! And my MRSM days as well. Those days senang aje nak masuk MRSM :-) Our kids nowadays don't have it easy, do they?

QOTH : When ever I thought of my primary days, mesti teringat makan mee goreng and letak kuah sup, and then makan dgn chopstick, sambil berdiri kat tepi tiang.... bab yg best tu ialah bila hirup kuah tu....mmm.. yummy.... hehe

QOTH, last year anak2 ansara ada harapan jugak masuk mrsm, out of 80 applications, dgr ceta 75 yg dapat. Tapi tahun ni, around 100 applications, HANYA 5 aje yang dapat. Macamana tu?

cik dinz : Helena mmg brainwash mereka dari kecik bab2 nak masuk asrama nih.... share all the fun stories ....itulah pasal mereka pun berminat kut....

Lepas balik dari competition tu, Anastassia was still excited. Dia asyik ulang2 kata best sangat. Then Mia told her, the real asrama life is ten times more fun then what you experienced tadi.

helena, which mrsm were you from?
somehow, when I remember primary school days, i always remember the dentist...at that time, scary betul!

Only those who has been in SBP knows the benefits of SBP.

mama rock : mrsm seremban? You ex-mrsm jugak ke?

dentist? I barely remember the trip to the school dentist. But I remember when I was in std 2, I had no friends, rehat sorang2, takde kawan langsung. I did not know how to socialize at all. Thanks to Cikgu Halifah, who made me sit next to the noisiest girl in school when in std 3, and bit by bit, I became less shy.....

OSH : well actually it depends on a person's experience in ASRAMA. A friend of mine had a miserable 5 yrs in asrama, so all her children mmg dia tak kasi masuk asrama.

i am probably one of the few ppl who never wanted their children to go to sbp.

no doubt i'm selfish of my time with them, but study wise, my girls are ok. as for my son, he didn't want to study and forcing him into a sbp wouldn't have made any diff.

anyway, drink lots of water to flush away those bugs! get well soon!

Helena, you must have been many years my junior. When I was in Form 5, Mama Rock baru Form 1 (kanak2 riang, hehehe).

kak lady : Helena pun suka MCKK, walaupun tak se-gah dulu, but prestige tempat tuh... tapi masalahnya, jauh from home. So Alam Shah and SDAR seems to be the wisest choice. (Helena mmg suka all boys school, rather than co-ed)

Harap2 our boys ada rezeki kan?

13 may : mmg hebat, but I'm still puzzled why SBP tak secemerlang dulu....

rose : hmmm... semua bergantung pada rezeki jugak.... tapi tak semua serasi duduk berjauhan dgn family.

Mia ni sebenarnya 1st impression orang tgk is lembut air muka dan lemah lembut peribadinya (pada Helena la) Tapi maybe sikap Mia yang "tak apa, orang nak buatpun, buatla" and tidak bersikap pendendam membuatkan ramai yg senang dgnnya. (Tapi still, menjadi kebencian CK and anak2nya)

Dia mmg senang sangat dijaga masa kecik Rose, at the age of 1 yr pun boleh bawak pergi function. Elok aje duduknya...

Intan : Now I understand kenapa some parents taknak anak berjauhan. I do feel down when I realized the impact it had on me knowing that Mia mengharungi hari2 as a teenager with lesser influence and guidance from me. To her now, its all about her seniors and her batch.

But it so happened that I acted just like her when I was in MRSM dulu. I remember and now I terpikir.... It must have been hard for my parents as I'm the only child.

But then Intan, to me there are 2 sets of parents. One, who didik anak2... and another is just let anak2 be, rezeki masing2 is always the excuse. I believe and tau sangat2 yang you are the former. So for parents in that group, sebenarnya, tak penting mana anak2 mereka belajar, because the support is always there for them, and the children knows that. And you have proven yourself pun kan....

I'm on MC again today... I feel so weak, now waiting for the results of my blood test. The doctor was also worried as my blood pressure naik tinggi and masih tak turun2... Thx for the wishes.

Idham : Hi there, thx for dropping by.

Oh you ex STAR, just talked to an ex collegue who is also an ex STAR pasal his "naughty" experiences there... hehe. I guess STAR is doing good now. Got no2 kebangssan for SPM results this year if I'm not mistaken.

Yup you guys are rivals in rugby eh? Mesti rivals in searching for girls jugak kut... hehe

nbb : oh you from balik pulau yer? Dari dulu I wonder why dulu quite a big group of budak form 4 balik pulau gi seremban...

QOTH : you dari mrsm mana?

Queen Of The House said...

Laaaa .... Helena, you kata you from S'ban, I kata I was probably many years your senior ... so ? :-)

Masa I pergi sana (I was the 4th batch) sekolah tu pun belum siap completely. Our classes were moved around quite a lot (tak boleh nak imagine how the earlier batches managed with building tak siap and all). Masa tu everything was still new. When I was in form 5, I think, the 'new' library and lecture theatres baru siap. Bestnyer masa tu. And throughout my time there, belum ada uniform - imagine the freedom, pakai t-shirt, jeans, skirts pergi classes. Best, best! But the experience I tak boleh lupa and don't ever wish to go through ever again, is the times we all kena angkut air from the academic buildings to the hostels ..... masa tu selalu tak ada air. Leceh betul!

Come to think of it, all those experience in boarding school probably makes a person more resilient. But I think I am like Intan,I would prefer my kids stay at home. I am afraid of negative influences on them while they are not under our watchful eyes. But sooner or later, kita kena juga cut the apron strings :-(

salam,

oh! i didnt realize some of the building was newly built. Patutla, library and classes looks new, padahal in other areas, usang pulak nampaknya. I was one of the last few batches, before the college became a Kolej Mara. Mmm... so maybe we have the same kenangan at the Cinderella stair case? hehe...

Dearie me, HElena cuma sekali aje experience takde air... no uniforms??? wow! actually the hostels really looks ancient. Almari pun uzur. I only realized about it bila pergi bertanding at the newer MRSMs.... terasa la college kita orang ni buruk.... hehe.... sedih compare dgn they all yg ada built-in cabinets and TV in every block..... (Sbn kan is the oldest MRSM)

mmm.... Skirts? huh? nak kena pelempang dgn seniors? memang unheard of during my time.

But obviously life there have thought me a lot. It also thought me a lot about boys.... being a convent girl before this.... hehe

kak long : hi... still not well la kak. Planning nak balik office extra early, just so I can rest at home.

yela... lain orang lain caranya. Dulu Helena selamba kata nak all kids masuk asrama, bila dah masuk sorang, baru tahu tinggi rendah langit menanggung rindu.... hehe.

kak long sihat? HElena ni macam kak long dah.... bila lama sikit mengadap PC, mulala loya2 dan pening kepala.... hehe... tapi masalah kita tak sama tau.....

duk asrama best pergh. the best experience as a teenager masa tuh. masa mula2 duduk mmglah rindu semacam kat parents, adik-beradik semo tapi lama2 dah biasa. bila habis form 5 masa nak balik for good nangis giler2 ngan seniors and juniors yg lain...

nak masuk SBP sekarang ni memang banyak persaingan nya.. tapi kalau dah rezeki mereka inshaAllah mereka akan kesana juga..

anak2 zino dah dua orang berjaya kesana..

kc : Helena pun enjoy asrama life. Tapi ada yg tak serasi duduk asrama tau. ASyik teringat rumah and nangis nak balik....

zino : dah 2 orang ye? Syukur.... Persaingan semakin sengit nak masuk SBP sekarang ni...... Yang Helena hairan, senang sangat ke UPSR tu kalau 45K boleh dapat 5As?
